“Gula”, the top of mind high cuisine magazine in Brazil, will have a busy and delicious year in 2015. The magazine will now be managed by Gema Custom Mags, a LabPop Group company with offices in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
Mario Marques and Robert Halfoun, partners in Gema and now content directors at “Gula”, believe in innovation and multiple formats, with heavy emphasis on tablet and mobile versions of the magazine, a revamped website and an improved version of the Gula Awards. Subscribers will also participate in Gula Club, a card that offers benefits and discounts in restaurants.
“We are approaching ‘Gula’ magazine’s 25th anniversary and we’ll delve deeper in the process of mixing its tradition and credibility with more modern and complex media platforms. We call this project ‘Gula 5.0′”, says Halfoun.
“Gastronomy is pop, it is something people of all classes and ages talk about. We believe the content in ‘Gula’ can be taken abroad, so we’ll use our channels in New York to reach new business opportunities”.
Gula’s next issue will be out on march 15, with future issues out on a monthly basis. This time, the cover is dedicated to cod, a much appreciated delicacy in Brazil. “The editorial formula remains the same. Easter is commonly associated with salted fish, so we will tend to the needs of both our readers and the market”, says Halfoun. “How this content will be approached is the main difference right now”.
The traditional Gula Awards will also take place this year. “We’ll take advantage of Music Buzz’s expertise in order to host another unforgettable Gula Awards in 2015”, adds Halfoun.
